First thing is you need to be 100% while with children. No other thought or background process to be continued. Many times we just say I spent and hour with children but the mind keeps itself busy in office thought. How would one call it quality time.

I agree with Payal. If you do not spend quality time with children and let them understand you and you understand them, they will not listen to you when they grow up. So, I make it a point that I keep communicating with my kids even if I am out. I just stay in touch with them through phone and ask them whether they have completed their homework and did they have their lunch on time. When you are not personally present with kids, you can keep in touch with them through phone.

It is very important to spend time with kids. It helps in bonding and becoming best friends of your kids. If you do not spend time with kids they will not listen to you when they grow up. Therefore, it is very necessary for every parent to spend time with kids and understand them. This is how they can also understand you as a parent. Parents should not take this issue of spending time with children for granted.

I always make sure that I reach on time for dinner so that I can spend time with my kids. My kids also wait for me for dinner. It has become my habit now and I can not have dinner without my kids. On weekends we go out for dinner sometimes. I also make sure that I take them out in park or for a movie during the weekends. We spend time together every weekend. It is very necessary for parents to spend time with their children and have very friendly relationship with their kids.
